THE TOP FASHION TRENDS OF AUTUMN/WINTER 2018

Autumn is almost upon us and now that September is here I’ve officially started transitioning into the new season and I couldn’t be happier, because I love autumn fashion! For today, I’ve put together a quick guide to the top fashion trends of autumn/winter 2018 to help you start building your new season wardrobe. I personally love these trends and I’ve seen some amazing pieces on the high street that I think are key in everyone’s wardrobe!

ANIMAL PRINTS

They are back in a big way – think leopard, zebra and snakeskin prints, and not necessarily for going out only, because this trend can be worn casually too. If you’re feeling brave enough, you can layer several pieces in animal prints and go wild from head to toe, or if you’re more like me and feel a little bit intimidated by this trend, go for one statement piece in animal print and keep everything else simple. I already got my hands on this snakeskin mini skirt from AllSaints which I’m in love with, and I’m definitely getting a pair of snakeskin ankle boots and a leopard print coat later this season.

CHECKS

Checked outfits are taking over autumn 2018 in all of their forms. Oversized checked blazers are everywhere and they are the perfect transitional piece. They were a huge trend last year as well, so chances are you already have one in your wardrobe. I’ve noticed some of the best-selling styles from last season are coming back and there’s an even bigger variety of options.

WESTERN

It’s time to dig out the cowboy boots and the big buckle belts. I’m a huge fan of boots and I’ve always liked the look of cowboy boots, so I’m happy to be seeing this trend again. A lot of brands have done an interpretation of the cowboy boots and it’s easy to find a pair that looks cool and chic. My favourite way to wear them is paired with a dress for work or skinny jeans and a shirt for a more casual look. You can go for a plaid shirt to complete the western vibe.

I can’t end this post without mentioning leather which is always on trend in autumn/winter. I’m on the lookout for the perfect leather skirt and a pair of skinny leather trousers that won’t break the bank, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know! They are definitely an investment, but can be great staple pieces for autumn/winter and there’s something so sassy and grown-up about them that makes them so irresistible.
