How To Look Chic & Stylish In Winter

A few people have recently said to me that they are struggling with shopping and styling in the winter months and not sure how to dress warm and look fashionable at the same time. So, today I’ve decided to share with you a few of my tips for looking chic and stylish when it’s cold outside. Winter dressing for me has always been more about warmth and comfort rather than fashion, but I also like to stay true to my personal style and here is what’s been working for me this season.

USE THERMALS FOR LAYERING

Thermal tops, tights and socks are real saviours over the winter months. They regulate your body temperature and you can wear them under any outfit as a base layer, especially under wool or cashmere knitwear that you don’t want to wash or dry clean too often.

STICK TO NEUTRAL COLOURS AND CLASSIC PATTERNS

Black, white, grey and camel look great on everyone and work with everything in your wardrobe. Leopard print has been a massive trend this year and something I also consider neutral. A leopard print faux fur coat is the perfect piece for your winter wardrobe if you want to add something that is very on-trend but classic at the same time, because you know that it comes back year after year and never goes out of style.

INVEST IN GOOD QUALITY KNITWEAR

A black roll neck is an absolute must-have in everyone’s winter wardrobe. It instantly makes your outfit look more polished and chic, and I know that cashmere is expensive, but I’d highly recommend investing in a nice cashmere roll neck jumper. It’s going to keep you warm and you will wear it over and over again. Make sure you take good care of your cashmere and it can last you for several years, so you don’t have to worry about repurchasing the same pieces of knitwear every winter.

SWAP YOUR SKINNY JEANS FOR LEATHER LEGGINGS

You don’t need to splurge on real leather; I bought my faux leather leggings earlier this season and I have worn them more than any pair of jeans I own – they keep my legs warm, they are super soft and comfortable and look so much cooler than a regular pair of black skinny jeans. I went for leggings over trousers, because I find them easier to style with boots, but if you prefer straight leg leather trousers, they look equally stylish.

WEAR OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS

They have become an essential for me over the past couple of years because of how versatile and timeless they are. You have to find the right fit and height for you and I’d strongly suggest you invest in real leather or suede, because they are going to keep their shape better and last you a lot longer than the cheaper faux leather ones. The one brand that immediately comes to my mind is Stuart Weitzman and I can tell you they are definitely worth the investment. You can often find them on sale during Black Friday and Christmas, and The Outnet usually stocks them, which is where I found mine at 40% off!
